Hello All! Hello World!
Well hello there, it’s time for a real _GYP_ the latest A.M.O.P. Mixtape!
This one features two live Elvis performances as well as two versions of Dylan’s “Went To See The Gypsy” which is one of my favorite songs about Elvis Presley (another being “Tupelo” the 1985 track by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds).
We’ve also got “Camarillo Brillo” by Frank Zappa, which has been stuck in my head for a decade now. There’s also the lovely “Rainy Day” the 1970 track by Susan Christie (produced by John Hill), which seems appropriate considering the weather we’ve been having.
Oh and there’s a tune from Doug Randle’s 1971 LP Songs For The New Industrial State, a strange pop record that really calls to my mind Robert Downey Sr.’s brilliant 1969 film Putney Swope (on my list of top ten films of all time, really can’t recommend it enough).
